R-21 PrEP Study Moves into Data Analysis Phase – June 2026
The R-21 PrEP Study has reached an important milestone following the successful completion of all planned data collection activities.
Implemented by HERA in partnership with the University of South Florida and Q-Initiative, the study seeks to understand how implementation strategies and contextual factors influence the uptake and continued use of Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) in Kenya.
The study has completed:
- Facility assessments
- Quantitative data collection
- Qualitative interviews
- Key informant interviews
- Stakeholder engagement activities
The research team is currently undertaking data analysis to generate evidence that will inform future HIV prevention programming and strengthen PrEP implementation strategies in Kenya.
Findings from the study will contribute to improving access to effective HIV prevention services, particularly in counties with moderate to high HIV burden
