Ugunja Health Pillar Partners with HERA and Rotary Club of Nairobi Utumishi to Hold Medical Camp at Ligega Health Centre
The Ugunja Health Pillar, in partnership with Help REACH Africa (HERA) and Rotary Club of Nairobi Utumishi, organised a two-day free medical camp on 23rd and 24th October 2026 at Ligega Health Centre in Ugunja, Siaya County.
The initiative aimed to bring essential healthcare services closer to the community, strengthen access to healthcare and provide an opportunity for residents to receive medical attention and engage with healthcare professionals.
The medical camp brought together healthcare professionals, specialists, community stakeholders and partners through a collaborative effort to support the delivery of community-based health services. Preparations involved mobilising multidisciplinary healthcare teams, coordinating medical supplies and medicines, and establishing logistical and referral arrangements to facilitate service delivery.
Dr Mildred A. Mudany, PhD, Executive Director of Help REACH Africa and Chairperson of the Ugunja Health Pillar, played a key leadership role in coordinating preparations and mobilising partners and stakeholders towards the successful organisation of the initiative.
During the medical camp, Dr Mudany briefed Ugunja Member of Parliament, Hon. Moses Omondi, on the activities taking place at Ligega Health Centre, highlighting the work being undertaken and the collaborative efforts supporting the initiative.
The medical camp demonstrated the importance of partnerships and collective action in addressing community health needs and strengthening access to essential healthcare services, particularly in underserved communities.
Through the Ugunja Health Pillar and its collaboration with partners, HERA remains committed to supporting community-centred health initiatives that contribute to improved health outcomes and the well-being of communities.
