Uzazi Salama is a maternal and newborn health initiative implemented by Help REACH Africa (HERA) in Siaya County in partnership with the Ministry of Health and supported by TIBA Foundation. The project strengthens maternal healthcare services through the Group Antenatal Care (G-ANC) model, a client-centered approach that combines clinical care, peer support, and health education for pregnant women. The Project Started on October 2025.

The project combines healthcare provider training, mentorship, supportive supervision, community engagement, and facility-based G-ANC sessions to strengthen maternal healthcare systems and improve care experiences for pregnant women.
“Through the G-ANC sessions, I learned how to monitor my health during pregnancy and recognize danger signs early. I now encourage other women in my community to attend antenatal care sessions.”
A participant from Matibabu Ukwala shared how the G-ANC sessions changed her perception of antenatal care from simply obtaining a clinic card to actively understanding and managing her health during pregnancy.
