Help REACH Africa is an organization that focuses on various strategic initiatives to improve health outcomes in Africa. These initiatives include Maternal Newborn Child Health and Family Planning, Adolescent Girls and Young Women Sexual Reproductive Health, HIV/AIDS, TB, and Malaria, Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC), and Advocacy and Health System Strengthening.
One of their currrent project is the NCD (Non-Communicable Diseases) project, which specifically targets hypertension and type 2 diabetes in Nairobi, Kenya. The project aims to involve stakeholders from different sectors to develop comprehensive strategies to address the burden of NCDs in the region.
Previously, Help REACH Africa conducted a successful medical camp in Sikalame, reaching a total of 2,571 patients from various villages in Siaya County, Kenya. The camp provided a range of interventions and services, including cancer screenings, comprehensive counselling and testing for HIV/AIDS, and pediatric care. The involvement of partners, local organizations, and government support played a crucial role in the camp’s success.
Recommendations for future initiatives include organizing similar medical camps in collaboration with the Siaya County government and partners, targeting hard-to-reach areas, enhancing maternal and child health services, and expanding comprehensive sexual reproductive health services for adolescents and young mothers. It is also suggested to establish a youth-friendly center and focus on follow-up care for referred patients.
In another project, Help REACH Africa has completed the implementation of the Community Initiatives for Resource Advancement (CIRA) grant. This grant aims to empower communities and promote sustainable development across Africa. The implementation process involved assessing community needs, making necessary adaptations to the HIV prevention intervention, training peer facilitators, and piloting the intervention with participants recruited from Help REACH Africa and local partners.
The pilot testing phase will evaluate the effectiveness and feasibility of the intervention through data collection and analysis. Help REACH Africa remains committed to improving HIV prevention and treatment behaviors and creating sustainable impact in African communities.
Overall, Help REACH Africa’s projects align with their strategic initiatives and focus on improving maternal and child health, sexual reproductive health, HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment, and strengthening health systems. They actively engage stakeholders and partners to make a positive impact on the lives of individuals in Africa.
